Vivo G2 Unveiled: Budget-Friendly Smartphone with 90Hz Display, Dimensity 6020 Processor, and Affordable Configurations

The Vivo G2 made its debut in China on Friday, expanding the company’s budget smartphone lineup. Boasting a 6.56-inch LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate, this smartphone is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 6020 processor. It comes with configurations offering up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The device features a robust 5,000mAh battery with 15W charging support and runs on the Android 13-based OriginOS 3 straight out of the box, as per the announcement from the Chinese smartphone manufacturer.

In terms of pricing and availability, the base model of the Vivo G2, equipped with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, is priced at CNY 1,199 (approximately Rs. 14,000). Alternatively, there are 6GB+128GB and 8GB+128GB variants available at CNY 1,499 (roughly Rs. 17,500) and CNY 1,599 (approximately Rs. 18,700) respectively. The highest configuration, featuring 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, is priced at CNY 1,899 (roughly Rs. 22,200). The smartphone is offered in a singular Space Black colorway. However, there is no official word from Vivo regarding plans to release the phone in other markets, including India.

The Vivo G2 is a dual SIM (Nano) device that operates on OriginOS 3, a user interface based on Android 13. Its 6.56-inch HD+ IPS LCD screen, with a 90Hz refresh rate and an 89.67 percent screen-to-body ratio, delivers an immersive visual experience. Powered by a 7nm Dimensity 6020 chip, the smartphone supports up to 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM.

In terms of photography, the Vivo G2 is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera with an f/2.2 aperture, while the front features a 5-megapixel camera with an f/2.8 aperture for video calls and selfies. Storage-wise, users can enjoy up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The device incorporates various sensors such as an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, e-compass, and a flicker sensor. For biometric authentication, it sports a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The dimensions of the Vivo G2 are 165.74×75.43×8.09mm, and it weighs 186g, according to the specifications provided by the company.
