In a recent development, former Minister and senior BJP figure Syed Mushtaq Bukhari has called upon members of the Pahari community to throw their support behind Mehbooba Mufti in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
The Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary constituency is set to go to polls on May 7th, with PDP President Mehbooba Mufti being one of the prominent candidates vying for the seat.
Expressing gratitude towards the BJP for securing reservations for the Pahari community, Bukhari emphasized the positive impact of the Narendra Modi-led government on their future. He hailed the culmination of a 30-year struggle.
However, Bukhari issued a cautionary note, urging Pahari community members to remain vigilant against individuals who exploit their community for political gain. He appealed to them to cast their votes in favor of Mehbooba Mufti, citing her as the only political leader who advocates for the interests of the Pahari community.
Bukhari’s endorsement of Mufti comes in the wake of his joining the BJP two months ago at the party’s headquarters in New Delhi, in the presence of senior leaders. (Source: KNS)
