Zardari Secures Historic Second Term as President: Political Leaders Extend Congratulations

The presidential election in Pakistan witnessed an overwhelming victory for Asif Ali Zardari, the candidate representing the ruling coalition, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). Zardari secured a historic second term as president, receiving 411 votes from the electoral college. This achievement makes him the sole civilian president to be elected twice.

Leaders from across the political spectrum extended their congratulations to Zardari, emphasizing the significance of his win for democratic values. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the confidence expressed by elected members in the ruling coalition’s candidate and expressed optimism about Zardari’s ability to effectively fulfill his presidential duties.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah hailed Zardari’s success as a triumph for democracy, foreseeing a path of prosperity for the nation under his leadership. Similarly, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori and Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab praised the successful democratic process and Zardari’s commitment to the nation’s constitution.

PPP Senator Sherry Rehman described the election as a historic moment, marking Zardari’s legacy as a two-time president who prioritizes the welfare of the country.

Various other politicians, including PPP’s Haider Gillani and Punjab Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, also extended their congratulations to Zardari on his reelection.
