In a vibrant display of solidarity and empowerment, the Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA), in collaboration with the Department of Youth Services & Sports Zone Kunzer/Tangmarg, and local civil and police administration, marked International Women’s Day with fervor and enthusiasm at Tangmarg.
The day unfolded with a series of engaging activities dedicated to celebrating womanhood and fostering empowerment. Commencing the festivities, a group of girls embarked on a trekking expedition from the town hall to Drang, a journey that was ceremoniously flagged off by the Chief Executive Officer of Gulmarg. The highlight of the event was a groundbreaking Girls’ Snow Cricket Match held at Tangmarg between Zone Tangmarg and Zone Kunzer, with Kunzer emerging as the victorious team. The girls, filled with jubilation, expressed gratitude towards the authorities for organizing the match and providing them with the unprecedented opportunity to play snow cricket in the picturesque playground.

He underscored the “Women-friendly tourism initiatives” being undertaken by the GDA, which include capacity building of local women for tourism services such as tourist guides and ski guides, aimed at catering to the needs of female travelers.
