Kathie Lee Gifford Surprises Howard Stern with Unexpected Forgiveness After Years of Tension

Kathie Lee Gifford recently revealed that despite Howard Stern’s past unkind behavior towards her, she surprised him by offering forgiveness, a gesture he hadn’t anticipated.

In her new book, “I Want to Matter: Your Life Is Too Short and Too Precious to Waste,” Gifford recounts an incident where the popular radio host allegedly influenced his fans to boo her when she performed the national anthem at the 1995 Super Bowl.

The 70-year-old Gifford later discovered that Stern, a New York native, had instructed his listeners to boo during her introduction.

Years later, when Stern appeared on the Today show to announce his new role as a judge on “America’s Got Talent,” Gifford felt compelled to extend an olive branch. “The Lord… said, ‘Kathie, go down and say hello to him, and wish him well with the show,'” she recalls.

Defying warnings from her makeup team to stay away, Gifford went to greet Stern. “I couldn’t care less. I went downstairs. They asked, ‘Where are you going?’ I said, ‘I’m going to say hello to Howard.'”

Following this encounter, Gifford received a voicemail from Stern, which she described to Fox News Digital as a surprise. “He said, ‘I can’t believe how nice you were to me. I’ve been so rude to you, and you were so nice. I just need to apologize to you. Please call me,'” she recounted.
