Kate Middleton to Miss Colonel’s Review Amid Ongoing Cancer Treatment, Buckingham Palace Confirms

The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, will not be participating in the salute at the Colonel’s Review, the traditional rehearsal on June 8 for King Charles’ Trooping the Colour, as confirmed by Buckingham Palace.

Royal expert Richard Palmer shared the news on X, formerly known as Twitter, stating that Buckingham Palace announced the Princess of Wales, who is expected to resume official duties only after receiving medical clearance following her cancer treatment, will not be present at the Colonel’s Review on June 8.

In his tweet, Palmer wrote, “Buckingham Palace confirms that the Princess of Wales, who is currently undergoing cancer treatment and will only return to her duties when approved by doctors, will not be taking the salute at the Colonel’s Review, the traditional rehearsal for Trooping the Colour.”

Additionally, Lieutenant General James Bucknall, the former commander of the Allied Rapid Reaction Corps, will take the salute at the Colonel’s Review. This responsibility was initially intended for Kate Middleton in her capacity as Colonel of the Irish Guards.

Royal expert Cameron Walker also tweeted, “NEW: Kensington Palace confirms that The Princess of Wales will not participate in the Colonel’s Review on June 8 as she continues her cancer recovery. General James Bucknall K.C.B., C.V.O., will assume the role of Inspecting Officer on her behalf.”

Kate Middleton is currently undergoing treatment following her cancer diagnosis announced in March.
