Setback for Farooq Abdullah as Numerous National Conference Leaders Join BJP in J&K

Several high-ranking leaders from the Jammu region of the National Conference (NC) dealt a blow to former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah’s party by defecting to the BJP just months ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

Among those crossing party lines were Sanjeev Khajuria, a senior leader and the National Conference’s district president for Kathua (Rural), along with other office bearers and numerous party members. Khajuria commended the on-the-ground impact of the welfare schemes under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government and praised Modi’s leadership on the global stage.

The defections took place at the BJP’s Jammu headquarters in the presence of the party’s Jammu and Kashmir unit chief, Ravinder Raina. Raina, while welcoming the new members, emphasized the BJP’s dedication to the welfare of people, irrespective of their region or religion.

Raina stated, “The BJP has earned the trust of the people, thanks to the Modi government’s initiatives. The party has actively worked for the well-being of individuals from all areas.”

Highlighting the alleged failure of opposition parties, Raina mentioned the formation of the INDIA bloc, purportedly aimed at thwarting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s welfare efforts. He asserted that this coalition has crumbled due to the growing popularity of PM Modi.

The BJP state unit chief also lauded the party’s historic contributions and achievements in healthcare, education, infrastructure development, and socio-economic progress.

In a separate event, former Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Kavinder Gupta urged party workers to fortify the party at the grassroots level to ensure victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
