The head of the banned Jamaat-e-Islami reiterated the organization’s commitment to democracy, emphasizing that they have never advocated for a boycott. Ameer-e-Jamaat Ghulam Qadir Wani stated that despite being banned, they uphold democratic principles and intend to resolve issues through democratic means. He clarified that Jamaat-e-Islami has been falsely associated with boycott movements in the past and affirmed their belief in democratic processes. Regarding participation in future elections, Wani mentioned that decisions will be made once the ban is lifted, emphasizing the organization’s adherence to constitutional principles. He expressed optimism about the youth’s engagement in voting and highlighted the importance of collective efforts to address social challenges such as drugs and corruption.
