Delhi Court Postpones Engineer Rashid’s Interim Bail Hearing to July 1

A Delhi Court on Saturday postponed the hearing of Engineer Rashid’s interim bail plea to July 1, to facilitate his taking of the parliamentary oath.

The Court had previously delayed the final decision on Rashid’s interim bail plea, which he sought to be able to take his oath as a Member of Parliament, with the most recent deferral occurring on June 19, 2014.

Rashid recently won the Baramulla constituency in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, defeating former J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, running as an Independent candidate.

Rashid has been imprisoned since 2019 on charges under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) related to alleged terror funding. He is currently held in Tihar Jail.
