No Election Boycott In Lok Sabha Polls: Mehbooba Mufti

Mehbooba Mufti, the President of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), urged the electorate of Jammu and Kashmir to refrain from boycotting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Speaking to journalists in Anantnag, she emphasized that these elections are not merely about basic amenities like roads and water, but rather about reclaiming the dignity of the people, which she claimed has been consistently undermined by authorities in New Delhi.

According to Mufti, the forthcoming polls are not centered on development issues, but rather on the restoration of the dignity and identity that, she alleges, have been forcefully taken away since August 2019. She criticized the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir, describing it as akin to an open-air prison where the populace is being coerced into labor against their will.

Mufti passionately appealed to the voters of Jammu and Kashmir to disregard calls for boycott and instead participate actively in the electoral process to regain their usurped rights. She highlighted attempts by certain groups to instigate boycotts in southern Kashmir, urging residents to resist such efforts for the sake of their collective dignity and identity.
