NIT Srinagar Hosts Successful Advanced Skill Development Workshop Empowering Entrepreneurs

The three-week workshop on Advanced Entrepreneurship and Skill Development and Advanced Management Development, sponsored by the Ministry of MSME under the ESDP Scheme and organized by IIED Centre of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar, concluded with resounding success.

The workshop was meticulously crafted and executed under the guidance of Dr. Dinesh Kumar Rajendran, the Nodal Officer of MSME (ESDP, Design, and IPR Schemes) from the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Rajendran, alongside other coordinators including Dr. Noor Zaman Khan, Dr. Deepak Kumar Naik, Dr. Sandeep Ratee, Assistant Professors from Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Nasir F. Bhat, Assistant Professor from HSS&M, and Dr. Syed Irshad Ahmad Qadri, Superintendent Workshop, NIT Srinagar, ensured smooth coordination and seamless execution.

Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. A. Ravinder Nath, Registrar Prof. Atikur Rehman, and other esteemed faculty members congratulated the organizing team for their efforts in attracting entrepreneurs from across India to participate in various advanced skill development programs, including 3D Printing, Welding & CNC, and Management Development Program on IPR & Risk Management.

This interdisciplinary workshop witnessed participation from diverse regions, including Union Territories like Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Delhi, as well as states such as Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.

The event commenced with a valedictory address by Dean Planning and Development, Prof. Yeswanth Metha, emphasizing the crucial role of such workshops in advancing technology and skill development, with a continued focus from the government.

Distinguished speakers from prestigious institutions such as Prof. Sheikh Gulam Mohammed, Director KU North Campus, Mr. Satish Kumar, Assistant Director, MSME Delhi, and legal experts like Mr. Parvez Principal Associate Khurana IP Mumbai, contributed to enriching discussions on intellectual property rights and entrepreneurship.

Participants were engaged in hands-on learning opportunities, including sessions on 3D Printing, CNC Wood Carving, Underwater Welding, Patent Drafting, E Filing of Patent, Design, Trademark, and Startup Pitching.

Dr. Noor Zaman Khan, Incubation Incharge IIED Centre at NIT Srinagar, delivered closing remarks, encouraging participants to apply their newfound knowledge in practical scenarios, while also elucidating various IPR schemes.

Dr. Dinesh Kumar Rajendran, Nodal Officer MSME ESDP Scheme, expressed gratitude to all attendees and emphasized the importance of collaboration in advancing technology in Jammu & Kashmir. He urged MSME and student entrepreneurs to focus on skill development, citing various government schemes like startup, skill development, and Make in India.

The event organizers, including staff and student organizers, were commended for their efforts in ensuring the smooth conduct of the workshops.

The workshop showcased the potential of emerging technologies and the scope of entrepreneurship development in Jammu & Kashmir, fostering meaningful discussions and knowledge exchange, marking a significant step towards innovation in the region. The valedictory session was hosted and coordinated by Dr. Nasir F. Bhat, Coordinator of A-MDP.
