OpenAI Reveals Casting Criteria Following Scarlett Johansson’s Legal Threats

Following Scarlett Johansson’s threats of legal action, OpenAI disclosed its casting call records for the ‘SKY voice’ role to a prominent newspaper, demonstrating that the company did not intend to mimic the Marvel star.

The Washington Post, after reviewing the documents, published findings indicating that the voice artist needed to meet three specific criteria to be considered for the role.

The artist must be a non-union actor, fall within the age range of 25 to 45 years old, and possess a “warm, engaging, and charismatic” voice. The report emphasized that the casting call did not specify that the voice should “sound like Scarlett Johansson.”

This revelation comes as Johansson alleges that the voice of OpenAI’s new assistant bears a striking resemblance to hers, after she declined to participate in the project for personal reasons.

Amid the controversy, OpenAI has paused the launch of the new voice feature, although it maintains that the voice belonged to a different actress, whose identity remains confidential.
