JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman Announces Boycott and Nationwide Protests Against Election Results

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman announced a boycott of by-elections and planned nationwide protests starting April 25.In a video message, JUI-F stated they reject the February 8 election results, deeming the current parliament more representative of the establishment than the people.

Fazl stated that the JUI-F, along with major parties like PTI and JI, alleged rigging in the February 8 polls favoring the current government.He emphasized the need to unite the nation for their voting rights, planning to contact other parties to garner support.

Starting April 25 from Balochistan’s Pishin, the JUI-F will launch the Awami Assembly movement, followed by events in Karachi on May 2, Peshawar on May 9, and later in Lahore.

Fazl criticized the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), accusing it of powerlessness and interference in civil bureaucracy matters.Highlighting the judiciary’s concerns over interference and threats, Fazl confirmed the JUI-F’s boycott of the April 21 by-elections due to distrust in the electoral process.
