Six hundred professors and administrative staff at Abdelmalek Essaadi University in Tetouan, Morocco, have called for the cancellation of the university’s partnership with the Israeli University of Haifa.
In a petition to the university president, the signatories also demanded an end to all forms of normalization with Israeli institutions.
The petition stated, “Our initiative is a step of solidarity with the Palestinian people against the genocide and crimes against humanity they have faced for over eight months.” It emphasized that Israeli occupation forces have systematically targeted higher education institutions in Gaza, killing Palestinian university leaders, professors, and students.
The partnership agreement was signed in September 2022.
