Israeli forces penetrated 9 kilometers deep into Daraa countryside in southern Syria, according to what the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on Wednesday.

The Observatory said that “Israeli forces entered the village of Koya and the historic Al-Wahda Dam near the Syrian-Jordanian border, and were stationed in strategic locations, after warnings to residents to surrender their weapons in the area.”

The Syrian Observatory indicated that “Israeli forces entered the 74th Battalion in the vicinity of the village of Saida, on the administrative border between the governorates of Quneitra and Daraa, in a move that represents a new breach within the southern Syrian region.”

According to the observatory, “This military move comes amid increasing tension on the Syrian border with the occupied Golan.”
