Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Demands Immediate Release of Political Prisoners for Ramzan

Kashmiri cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq made an impassioned plea on Friday, calling for the immediate release of numerous Kashmiri political detainees and young individuals who have been held in various prisons across the nation for an extended duration. His appeal, timed during the sacred month of Ramzan, underscores the significance of extending goodwill gestures during this period.

Speaking at the venerable Jamia Masjid, the Mirwaiz urged all religious, social, and political factions to transcend personal and sectarian interests, emphasizing the critical need for unity and fraternity to safeguard the collective identity of Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized the adherence to fundamental human, moral, and religious principles as the most effective means to nurture a spirit of collectivism, cautioning against internal discord, which inevitably leads to societal deterioration.

Highlighting the pivotal role of youth in shaping Kashmir’s future, the Mirwaiz stressed the importance of education and awareness in unlocking their innate potential and consciousness. By empowering the youth with knowledge and insight, he envisioned the emergence of a just and prosperous community.

In essence, the Mirwaiz’s message resonates with the ethos of compassion, unity, and empowerment, underscoring the imperative for concerted efforts towards a harmonious and progressive society in Kashmir.
