Kashmiri cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq made an impassioned plea on Friday, calling for the immediate release of numerous Kashmiri political detainees and young individuals who have been held in various prisons across the nation for an extended duration. Speaking at the venerable Jamia Masjid, the Mirwaiz urged all religious, social, and political factions to transcend personal and sectarian interests, emphasizing the critical need for unity and fraternity to safeguard the collective identity of Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized the adherence to fundamental human, moral, and religious principles as the most effective means to nurture a spirit of collectivism, cautioning against internal discord, which inevitably leads to societal deterioration.
