Mufti Zulfiqar Ahmed, the head of Darul Uloom Noomaniya in Banihal, has urged parents of children with special needs to provide them with both Qur’anic education and knowledge in practical fields such as Science, Mathematics, and other disciplines.
During a recent conference, he emphasized its importance as a pivotal moment for empowering the visually impaired community. The event featured Irfan Ahmed, a pioneering para-athlete and celebrated cricketer from Pampore, Kashmir.
Ahmed, who has competed in cricket across India since 2015, highlighted that the prejudice against visually impaired individuals extends beyond Jammu and Kashmir, affecting them nationwide. He pointed out that misconceptions about the employability of blind individuals lead to missed opportunities for them.
Expressing his gratitude, Ahmed shared, “I thank God for giving me supportive parents who encouraged me rather than seeing my condition as a stigma.” He also recounted his experiences visiting the Siachen Glacier, the world’s highest battlefield, and the second longest non-polar glacier, underscoring his achievements despite the challenges he faced.
