Details of the incident are still forthcoming.

On June 9, terrorists attacked a bus carrying pilgrims from the Shiv Khori cave shrine to Katra in the Reasi district. The attack occurred in Teryath village, Pouni area, bordering Rajouri district. The bus fell into a gorge, resulting in at least nine deaths and 33 injuries.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has assumed control of the Reasi terror attack case in Jammu and Kashmir, launching an in-depth investigation to uncover the conspiracy behind the attack. This development, announced on Monday, highlights the security concerns in the Union Territory.

Following orders from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the NIA took over the case from the Jammu and Kashmir Police on June 15 and filed a new First Information Report (FIR). The attack on the bus occurred on June 9, coinciding with the swearing-in of the entire Union Cabinet, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi.

The day after the attack, an NIA team visited the scene to assist local police and assess the situation.

The NIA, India’s leading counter-terrorism agency, frequently collaborates with state police on high-profile and sensitive cases. Their involvement is expected to enhance the investigation and ensure a comprehensive examination of the evidence.
